Eugenio Barba’s final premiere with the Odin Theatre ensemble in Holstebro

Next week the performance “Thebes at the Time of Yellow Fever” will premiere at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium in Holstebro.

Next week the founder of Odin Teatret, Eugenio Barba, will premiere his final performance at Nordisk Teaterlaboratorium with the Odin Teatret ensemble. The name of the play is “Thebes at the Time of Yellow Fever.”

The performance will premiere on Monday the 12th of September, and it will play five times in Holstebro in the week that follows. Then the ensemble will go on tour to perform the play in Rome, Bari, Poland, and finally in the city of cities, Paris.

The dates are: September 26th – October 2nd. in Rome, Bari (Italy) 6th – 9th October, Poland from the 22nd. – 26th of October, and finally at the Théâtre du Soleil in Paris 8th – 19th of November

The performance takes place the day after the last battle. The war between the two sons of Oedipus for the dominion of Thebes is over. The rebel Antigone has been punished for profaning the law of the city.

Families bury their dead. Oedipus’ ghost wanders among the corpses. Creon and Tiresias are plotting for peace. The Sphinx and the plague lie in wait. For all of us it is spring, a time to fall in love. The future is a frenzy of sun and gold: a yellow fever.
